About this piece
This sculptural metalwork piece explores the relationship between nature and mechanics, drawing inspiration from the anatomy and wing structures of insects. It reinterprets organic forms through metal construction, creating a connection between the natural and the artificial. The piece is made using copper sheet, brass sheet, brass tubing, and silver solder. Its symmetrical composition features multiple layers of wings with pierced patterns and vein-like structures that create contrasts in texture, depth, and movement. Liver of sulfur was used to create patinas and color variations across the metal surfaces, enhancing the visual contrast and emphasizing the vein-like patterns. The final structure transforms natural anatomical references into a mechanical-looking form, evoking the appearance of an artificial organism.
