About this piece

This painting is titled Divine Haircut. This painting depicts me giving my spouse a haircut. Gender, "the gaze", and power asks the figure to act as an icon of the surrounding social and political climate. I ask how bodies exist independent from the surrounding climate? What does history, nudity, gaze, and power look like in a space that doesn't prioritize presentation? I also attempt to infuse queer bodies into the traditional Christian origins of gender roles.
